Learn How to Record Audio for Video and Film
Read MoreImprove the sound capture quality of your camera rig without draining your budget with the Saramonic SR-VM4, a camera-mount shotgun microphone offering directional sound pickup, customizable audio settings (gain and low-cut filter), and fast setup for vloggers, news shooters, and run-and-gun videographers. Additionally, it comes with a foam windscreen and a furry windshield for effective wind protection indoors and outside.
Powered by two AA batteries (available separately), the SR-VM4 can run gig after gig for up to 720 hours. Its construction features lightweight ABS material and an integrated shoe shockmount, ensuring hassle-free setup and isolation from vibration and camera noise. The attached cable has a 3.5mm TRS mini plug for simple hookup to the mic input on your camera or portable audio recorder.
Mounts on Camera
The integrated shockmount not only allows easy attachment to your camera's shoe mount, but it also provides isolation from vibration and mechanical noise. The SR-VM4 utilizes ABS construction to maintain durability while keeping weight down.
Directional Sound Pickup
Equipped with a condenser capsule in an interference tube, the SR-VM4 shotgun mic yields supercardioid polar pattern that offers focused pickup in front of the mic along with increased rejection of sound at the sides.
Attached Coiled Cable
Since the mic features an attached cable, you don't have to worry about packing a separate cable. Plus, its coiled design ensures tidy cable management. It is terminated with a right-angled 3.5mm TRS mini plug, which can be connected to the 3.5mm mic input jack on most cameras and portable audio recorders.
Powered via AA Batteries
Simply insert two AA batteries (available separately) into the mic's battery compartment to power the SR-VM4 for up to 720 hours. When the mic is on, the LED indicator will light green. If the battery power is running low, the indicator will turn red.
Onboard Gain Control
Use the gain switch at -10, 0, or +20 dB to set the mic's output level appropriately. The -10 dB setting is ideal for recording loud sources such as live music, motorsports, and close-range interviews. The +20 dB position allows you to reduce your camera's preamp level to reduce the amount of noise generated by the camera's comparatively low-quality audio circuitry.
Low-Cut Filter
The power switch also offers a position for activating the 75 Hz low-cut filter, which can increase the intelligibility of dialogue by minimizing bass buildup.
Included Wind Protection
The SR-VM4 comes with removable wind protection—a foam windscreen for indoor use and a furry windshield for outdoor shoots. Both are designed to reduce noise caused by common sources of wind.
