The GK3532-80QD Mountaineer Series 3 Carbon Fiber Tripod from Gitzo combines the GT3532 tripod legs with Series 3 center ball head. It features Carbon eXact tubing, which includes High Modulus carbon fiber in the lower leg sections, adding to their diameters, and making the tripod more rigid and stronger than its predecessor. The tripod has a load capacity of 46.3 lb, extends to a maximum height of 68.9", and folds down to 30.5" for transport.

The center column on the tripod can be removed for Ground Level Set, which enables the tripod to reach its lowest height of 11.8". Its three-section legs are secured with twist locks that incorporate G-lock Ultra, which has an internal O-ring to prevent dust and particles from entering the leg system. The top spider has been redesigned to add rigidity, and large leg angle selectors give you more area to grip when readjusting leg angles. A ballast hook on the center column allows you to add weight to increase the tripod's stability.

The Series 3 center ball head is a magnesium alloy ball head with a quick release plate that incorporates many innovative features. A large locking knob controls the movement of the ball, while a separate lock controls the 360° panning motion. In the center of the locking knob is a tension, or friction control dial that allows you adjust the tension of the ball to match the weight of your gear. The Spring Assisted Double Lock combines two locking systems in one to maximize locking power and ball smoothness. A double quick-release safety system consists of two safety pins to protect your camera from falling from the head when the locking knob is released.
